LCP art week

The theme for the LCP art week was ‘Our Wonderful World’ and each class created artwork based on a theme. Every year group learned about one artist and recreated pieces of their own art in that style. Artists ranged from Andy Warhol, to Van Gogh, to Banksy.
To conclude the week, we held an art gallery event around school, where every class were invited to observe the artwork each class had done.

Alongside the fun within the classrooms, each child has been given an important role in a very exciting project! To help achieve our Rights Respecting Schools Gold Award, we have invited an artist into school to create some meaningful art murals for the KS1 and KS2 playgrounds. These murals will link very closely to UNICEF convention of the rights of the child, which is very important to us as a school.

Each child will create a design of what they think the mural should include and they will be thinking carefully about how to make their ideas stand out. Ideas for the mural will go on a design sheet and the school council will then choose the best (and most creative) designs to include on the murals. This will then help our children remember our rights and responsibilities at playtimes, dinnertimes and all day at school. It will also be very clear for our parents and community to see our Rights Respecting ethos from the playground.

We are hoping to have the murals completed in the Autumn term and we can’t wait to see which designs are included!
