Parent Activity DaysThere will be times where you will be invited to come in to school to work with your child on a creative activity. It will be great to see you and your child share ideas and work together in a friendly learning environment. I will keep you updated on when these days will be taking place. We will also continue to run parent workshops during the year, if you have any specific area which you feel would benefit you as a parent then do not hesitate to share your ideas.
HomeworkThe children will be set work to do at home throughout the year which will reinforce the literacy and numeracy skills they are being taught in the classroom. Like last year your child will have a homework folder which they will bring their homework home in. Homework will be sent home on a Friday and is to be returned by Thursday the following week.
PE PE will be on Thursdays and Fridays, please can you make sure your child has a PE kit in school. The PE kit should be a white t-shirt, black shorts and black pumps. Also on these days can you please remove earrings and make sure long hair is tied back. This is part of our PE policy due to health and safety. Part of our PE will be swimming, which will be on a Friday. I will send out further information about swimming including the most suitable clothing and any further information you may need.
Book BagsReading continues to be one of our key priorities in school, we hear children read daily in school but you reading with them at home makes a huge difference. We encourage the children to read as much as possible at home and we are happy to change reading books as often as your child reads their book. In order for the book to be changed an adult needs to comment on the child’s reading the in the reading diary.
I look forward to working with your child throughout the year and keeping you updated on the exciting things which we are doing in class. Please do not hesitate to come and see me or one of the other members of staff in Year 4 if you have any questions or concerns.
